Ca-Haw-Nev Wins National Spirit Award Again!
At the National Convention in St. Louis the Ca-Haw-Nev District won the Spririt award for the fourth consecutive year in a row. Band Leader Ken Owens(Foundation treasurer) and Zita Roerhig (Ca-Haw-Nev President) led us to another victory. The theme this year was "changing the beat, step forward" well with this type of theme it seemed rather obivous to the group we needed to be the BAND in Exhchange. Members from the district included: Jan Owens, Sally Harvey, Ed Harvey, Shirley Lashmett, Ron Lashmett, Linda Owens, Ken Owens, Tram Ho, Mike Spitzer, Kay Kearney, Rick Gordon, Shannon Wetters, Candice Young, Kim Denger, Nick Berger, and Kelly Valencia. Congratulations to all! (July 2008)
What is Exchange?
We are America's Oldest Service Club. From our organization's earliest days, Exchange Clubs have been unselfishly serving their communities and improving the quality of life. The diverse array of Exchange-sponsored programs and projects has made a considerable impact on America, enhancing the lives of countless men, women and children across the nation.
Why join Exchange?
To help build a better America, and in doing so, bring out the best in yourself. Exchange helps members develop leadership, networking, and organizational skills that contribute to success in business, family and personal endeavors. More importantly, Exchange provides members with the opportunity to share their time and talents to help others, whether by reaching out to an abused child who needs love and affection or organizing a community crime prevention program or wielding rakes in a clean-up project. Through these and many other positive, public-spirited projects, Exchangites are making a real difference in cities and towns across America. More reasons to join the National Exchange Club.
What do Exchange Clubs do?
Clubs sponsor a wide range of activities to improve our communities, help the disadvantaged and encourage good American citizenship. The principal areas of Exchange's National Program of Service are Youth, Americanism, Community Service and our national project, Child Abuse Prevention. Members also initiate activities to meet unique local needs. This may be anything from raising funds for the homeless to building and staffing a sheltered workshop for the disabled.
